My first Jag loss was completely my fault, losing a Caracal on my overview and wheras I thought it warped out it was merely off my overview screen which was heavily crowded with NPC ships which for the record also had full room agro on me. It was destroyed before you could say "boom" having gotten precisely zero kills with it.
The second, I lost my Solo setup while part of a gang. I should have brought my gang setup I know though I dount I would have done any better in it. I just didn't think about it when we set out. I used it very effectively to hold down a Drake comfortably while waiting for bigger hitters to arrive by merrily speed tanking, I was involved in three Drake kills before I lost it. The actual loss occurred while we were trying to bait an enemy gang which ended up with egg on our faces losing my Jaguar and a Stiletto to a Stiletto, Taranis, Drake, Rapier, Hurricane & Apocalypse while we were trying to get a decent warpin on the Apoc.
I'm not done with Jaguars, I'd like to give them a fair chance before writing them off so I am sure there are more chronicles to come. What I am looking forward to road testing is my Wolf which is sat in Station, man that thing looks impressive. I'll detail my Wolf fit in another post.
Speed FTW speed fit these and you may come to love em as much as I love mine, the shield rigs? no way bro...and I woudl toss of the Shield in the mids too and put a Sensor booster in there that way you can lock just a bit faster...will they live long....depends. I use mine as a heavy tackler on gate camps and I love her in that role. I fit all gank + speed I like the nuet but at what range? + when your skills get better you coudl try the 200MM AC's
ReplyDeleteI think Manasi's a bit crazy - keep the shield tank for low sec, imho! Love the Jag, not so much the wolf. AB jags can be a beast - really the best assault frig. The wolf...flying coffin - great dps, but they just seem to die a lot.
ReplyDeleteA little Assault Frigate debate is going down over in Baroque Pilot blogspot, mainly around the Jaguar also. It's a ship I want to love and achieve in but feel it just can't live up to it's reputation anymore.
ReplyDeleteAF's should be capable of what HAC's are in respect to class differences but it really isn't the case. AFs can outright beat t1 frigates should both pilots be fairly equally matched skill wise and destroyers are an interesting affair. Cruisers are however out the window for the Jaguar in my opinion.
Best of luck with the Jaguar though mate, tis a very cool ship to fly. I've personally been having more fun and more success in my Wolf as of late; it does however have a very limited usage in combat.
Interesting Kirith! I am going for the Jag also. Already have one ready, just need to skill a few things and then I'll be of in one also. Wondering what it will do for me already.
